PLANNING GUIDE

Prepare a useful factory handling brief.

A heavy labour enquiry is easier to assess when it describes the actual handling job rather than only a requested number of people. A delivery of packed components, an internal material movement and a machine being placed at its destination create different work stages. This checklist helps a factory contact prepare one useful brief for loading and unloading labour support.

Start with the items and the handling stages

Give each item or group a clear description. Record the quantity, approximate dimensions and available weight information, and identify where those figures came from. Add photographs showing the whole item and its present position. Point out packaging, loose components or fragile parts that affect the discussion.

Separate the stages you need: collection from a storage position, loading onto a vehicle, unloading on arrival, movement through the premises and final placement. A request for unloading labour should still explain what happens after the material leaves the vehicle. Identify the endpoint that the quotation is expected to cover.

Describe access at the factory

Send the full factory address, plot or unit number and a contact who knows the premises. Describe the route between the vehicle and the receiving position. Mention gates, doors, steps, floor changes, restricted passages and the area available for temporary staging. Photos taken along the route are often more useful than a single photo of the front gate.

Tell the provider about entry procedures, vehicle slots and permitted working hours. If deliveries share a bay with production or other vehicles, explain who coordinates the available window. Keep changes visible: an access route that will be cleared before work starts should be described as a prerequisite, with a responsible person and expected readiness time.

Identify equipment and specialist interfaces

Explain whether a crane, Hydra, truck or other handling equipment is already being arranged. State who is assessing and supplying it and which stages it covers. If equipment has not been assessed, mark it as an open planning question. The quantity of labour requested should follow the assessed handling arrangement rather than substitute for it.

For machinery, identify the party responsible for preparation and specialist disconnections. Share relevant manufacturer handling information with the responsible provider. Keep commissioning, electrical work and other technical activities assigned to the appropriate specialist unless they are expressly included in an agreed scope. This brief is planning information, not instructions for carrying out a lift.

Agree the work window and handover

Provide the preferred date and whether the timing is flexible. Distinguish the vehicle arrival time, the time access becomes available and the point at which the receiving area must be handed back. Include a contact for both pickup and receiving sites where the work covers more than one premises.

Ask how attendance, waiting time, changes in scope and completion will be recorded. The useful handover describes the agreed endpoint, such as material received in a designated area or an assessed machine placement stage. Do not assume that loading, road transport, unloading and final installation are all included in a labour-only discussion.

Send one complete enquiry

Bring the item list, photographs, locations, handling stages, access notes and proposed date into one message. Identify which information is confirmed and which still needs review. Ask for labour, equipment, transport and separately supplied work to be clear in the quotation so you can compare the same scope between providers.

For heavy labour in Bawana, Delhi or a Delhi NCR industrial location, contact Dayanand with the actual factory details. Requirements outside the region can also be discussed with the Bawana team. Availability and mobilisation are confirmed for the proposed work; a general enquiry is the starting point for that assessment.

Your preparation checklist

  • Item list with quantity, size and available weight information
  • Photographs of the item, access route and receiving area
  • Exact factory address, site contact and proposed work window
  • Clear labour, equipment and specialist responsibility boundaries
  • An agreed completion endpoint and handling of scope changes

Questions about this topic

Should I specify a headcount first?

Start with the items and work stages. Discuss the team arrangement after the access and handling requirements have been assessed.

What if I already have a crane provider?

Share that provider’s scope and the intended interface so loading or unloading labour is planned around the same arrangement.
